Photo Classes - Leila Saghafi

Interested in learning photography from a pro? I have a background in teaching, and one of the ways I love to give back to the community is through helping others learn.

I offer instruction for kids and adults!

For kids:

This Summer I am proud to be teaching a Digital Photography and Editing camp with TechVenture Kids!

I have designed a curriculum for children ages 9-11 to learn how to take thoughtful photos using Canon Powershot cameras.  Kids will also edit their photos using Google Editing Software.

It is a 5 day (3 hours/day) camp that can be paired with TechVenture's Web Design camp for a full day of activities!

Upcoming Camps:

4/11 - 4/15 Digital Spring Break (full day option available) *Issaquah Highlands*

6/20 - 6/24 Digital Photography and Editing    *Computers and Math 4 Kids, Redmond*

6/27 - 7/01 Digital Photography + Web Design (full day available) *Downtown Issaquah*

7/11 - 7/15 Digital Photography and Editing (full day option available) *Bellevue*

And more...

For Adults: (or teens)

Ever wanted to go out and take amazing photos, but never have the chance? It is time to take a guided photo tour with me and my assistant, Jolyn Henry! Whether you just want to bring your camera phone and enjoy the experience, or learn how to use your point and shoot or DSLR camera to it's fullest, join us on a photo safari in either Issaquah, Redmond, or Seattle!

Great for new photographers, first (or second, third, etc) dates, or just getting out of the house to explore!

Jolyn and I will meet with you in a group of 3-5 and get a sense of what everyone is interested in. Then we will walk you through nature or the city, pointing out new and interesting photo opportunities, offering tips and recommending the best settings for your camera (which can be complicated)

Spend an hour or two with us every other Saturday (2nd and 4th) at one of these locations: (once we have at least three people interested in a location and a time, we will book the safari!

This is not a professional photoshoot, it is an educational tour. We are also not responsible for any personal equipment lost or damaged.

Location Descriptions:

Issaquah Trail Hike: We will meet at the parking lot just below the Sunset Trailhead off of I-90. A pretty strenuous hike, for those who have some hiking experience. We will meet in the parking lot and get acquainted and be hiking/taking photos for an hour and a half. The trail we take will be decided by the group's mood. :)

Downtown Issaquah: A really cute little town. Great for chances to learn about the different modes on your camera. Issaquah has lots of artists and families and always makes for great street photography. We will meet at the Train Depot Park (there is a playground and vintage train station).

Downtown Kirkland: We will meet at the gazebo in Marina Park. Kirkland has  "european" feel to it. Along with the easy access to water, this is a great city to get photos of boats, shops and maybe even people.

Downtown Bellevue: We will meet by the water feature in the downtown park. Bellevue has some amazing architecture that lends itself to creative photography. A very dense city, there is a lot going on in a very small space.

Capitol Hill: We will meet at the Asian Art Museum and spend the first portion of our safari photographing in the park. There is an amazing old brick water tower that is beautiful inside and out. Then, if everyone is interested, we will walk down to the main street where there is some interesting architecture as well.

Pike Place Market: Seattle's most famous market is also right near the water and some interesting streets. We will photograph in the Market itself for the first hour (until closing) then expand to the more urban areas.
